Streaming: Disney and Pixar's 'Onward'

Disney+ dropped some blessings for us during this quarantine and I am so grateful! Since Social Distancing made it hard for us to safely go see 'Onward' in theatres when it came out last month, Disney and Pixar gave us a quarantine present and dropped it for us to stream from home WAY earlier than expected on Disney+! With 50 Million or more of us holding on tightly to our Disney+ subscriptions, let's all watch this one with or without the kids.

“While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes,” said Dan Scanlon (Director, “Onward”) and Kori Rae (Producer, “Onward”).¹ We've been socially distancing in my household for a bit longer than nationally directed, so we weren't able to see this in theaters. I play a cute Disney game with my son, "Disney Magic Kingdoms" when he comes to visit me at the computer when I'm working (So, now he thinks that's work but I find that completely appropriate), and they have had the Onward characters as a featured event and we've loved it, but I've been completely confused about what's going on, who the characters are and how the Dad isn't in the top 5 creepiest characters in Disney magic history. They have him in the game as what looks like a fully regular bottom half...but then a rag doll on the top that can just flop around...you definitely have to know the story to get that character. I am beyond pleasantly surprised at how heartwarming this movie is and am so glad I get to share it with my family on Disney+ and hearing the voices of Spiderman(Tom Holland) and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) really gave me extra entertainment value.

The tale of 'Onward' is what feels like a coming of age tale with a magical twist. We follow teen brothers Ian and Barely on a magical quest that will give the grownups feels and belly laughs, and keep our young humans' imaginations racing through the entire epic tale while low key teaching us all about the importance of teamwork, courage, working together as a family even when far apart and my favorite lesson - if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again (Aaliyah). Without giving you too many spoilers, I will tell you I cried hard and laughed way harder. My 2 year old didn't really catch on to any of the characters other than Barley but still seemed to enjoy the adventure. Both brothers are so relatable and endearing in this realm of magical, mythical creatures (like trash unicorns) and quests with deadly curses. Electronics and technological advances have replaced the need for magic, so when they receive a spell on Ian's 16th birthday to make the unimaginable happen they have to venture out on a journey outside the beaten path to make it work. The boys work together to get a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time with their Dad, who passed when they were both very young, for one day but it's FAR from a simple quest. Tap into your Disney+ subscription to join in on this magical quest today!
IMDB

Before you do, here's some info for parents. I have a 2-year-old so I didn't have to explain the whole dead Dad - wandering pants situation or do any consoling. But I cried hard so I know that if you have a child that does have a full range of emotions or even recently had to experience loss, this one will be difficult to swallow with this dark undertone. It's not too much harder than 'Finding Nemo' or 'The Lion King'...or any other Disney movie with a dark or sad undertone...actually now that I say that I can't think of a Disney movie without a real-life difficult to process undertone! All that aside, I think the entertainment factor, and the lessons of courage and family will help make the mortality bit an easier discussion.

Throw Back: That one time I competed in a pageant

Once upon a time, what seems like a long time ago I decided I wanted to be a beauty queen. It was definitely an experience I will never forget and I finally have the chance to tell you all about it! I've always known that I wanted to help people in some way, and one day it dawned on me if I had a crown that would definitely give me a much louder voice to speak on issues I thought were important. So, I went searching for what I thought was the best pageant for me and I landed on Miss Nevada USA 2016. The only thing I knew about pageants at this point was from the Miss Congeniality movie and what I heard about from my cousin's social media pages. So from that, I thought it was going to be a breeze...PSYCH! It was probably the most grueling process of self-discovery I've ever put myself through. My first step was figuring out how much all of this was going to cost. For me, it was a ridiculous amount that I just wasn't going to be able to make at my day job in

My Netflix Obsession: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I am loving that Netflix has original movies and series! Right now I am all caught up in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and am very impatiently waiting for the release info on seasons 3 and 4! Let's talk all about why this is SUCH a binge-able flick and YOU should be just as excited to catch up! So, I went into CAOS without even knowing what I was getting myself into. I thought it was a Sabrina the Teenage witch via Melissa Joan Heart spin off/reboot/remake situation...I had NO idea Archie Comics had an entire dark world that spawned my childhood fave...because I would have been obsessed YEARS ago. They took something that was sweet, innocent and wholesome, added the actual devil and a dash of sexy and I've been horrified through every episode! The series keeps all our Sabrina favorites, Sabrina herself, Harvey, Hilda and Zelda, and my always favorite Salem but with a twist and gives us some new favorites in the Weird Sisters, Ambrose Spellman and Nicholas Scratch.

Day N Vegas: The Hip Hop Festival Vegas Needs

We've been asking for it, and the people down at GoldenVoice have made it happen! The Rap centered, 3-day Hip-Hop music festival of our DREAMS is coming to Las Vegas November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with Day N Vegas! Here's what we know so far. Vegas has been ready for a huge Hip-Hop festival for a minute and we could not be happier that it is coming! With J.Cole, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar headlining the festival everyone is already hype...but then we took a closer look and this entire lineup is lit! Migos, Miguel, Tyler the Creator, and 21 Savage are all playing this festival! They are keeping it exciting with new favorites like DaBaby, Blueface, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lil Nas X. This festival is the first weekend of November, which is one of the coolest months! We don't have to worry about the heat, we don't have to worry about makeup running, or hair trippin. This is the perfect outdoor festival time of year for Vegas if the wind stays calm. Day N&#

This year was NO different, but I did catch some exciting tweets during the commercial breaks! Here are my favorite looks from the Blue Carpet at this years BET Awards show from Los Angeles. Throw Back Thursday: Let's Go Sailing

Carnival Cruise - Ensenada, Mexico Around this time last year, I went on my first cruise. And now I'm obsessed! I've always loved vacations, to the point that I spent most (if not all) of my free time helping anyone I could have the vacation of their dreams. This time around, I was taking the vacation.  My Beautiful Mom and our comp breakfast I was SO busy living it up on the ship that I totally forgot to take pictures of all the super amazing things going on. There was ALWAYS something going on. We didn't have a single bored moment, or even any downtime if we didn't want it. We took complete and total advantage of all the free food. I was pregnant at the time, so I was ALWAYS hungry lol. The ship had me covered. There was a burger bar, a buffet-style arrangement, pizza, and every night there was a fancy dinner setup. There were live shows, like 2 different nightclubs, there was a karaoke night, live music all over the place. It was just amazing!

Ms. Nevada Regency International: Tea with the Queens at Cafe Lola

This week, the Nevada Regency International Queens and I shared my first EVER appearance in my sash and crown! I am BEYOND excited to start along my journey as Ms. Nevada Regency International 2020.  We had an incredible theme of Breakfast at Tiffany's where I got to wear my favorite little black dress and keep my hair up under my crown. Cafe Lola was an amazing host, and had an amazing spread with a variety of teas and little snacks. Along with the beautiful spread, fit for a Queen and any princess tea party I could ever imagine, they are also SUCH a beautiful place to grab some unique photos. In different area's of the cafe they have flower walls, props, a phone booth and more! I loved this phone booth and would love to come back just to sip some tea and do another photoshoot right in here! Thank you so much to the Nevada Regency International Pageant, and Cafe Lola for this amazing afternoon!  Would you like to host the

Let's Go Sailing: Cruising With a Toddler

Cruising with Carnival has become a yearly thing for my mom and I, and this year we extended the tradition a generation by bringing my 1-year-old with us. We went for a 4 day, Halloween cruise from Long Beach with 2 stops - Catalina Island and Ensenada, Baja California. Here's a rundown on going on a cruise with a toddler! First off, we drove from Las Vegas all the way to the Long Beach Terminal so the first leg of our trip was a 4+ hour car ride. I made sure we were fully stocked for the ride over so we wouldn't have to make too many stops and make the ride any longer. Turns out we didn't need anything I packed for the ride because he slept for about 3 1/2 hours and was completely content with his tablet, a juice box, and some cheez-its when he woke up. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ We decided to check our bags instead of dragging them through the ship because we just knew we wanted to grab some food and explore before going back to the room. That means we had to have everythi

Moming In Vegas: Container Park

Kid Friendly Life In Vegas We had our FIRST EVER play date! One of the dopest things about Las Vegas is that there are SO many family-friendly activities. I didn't even know about most of them until I became a mom. Our first date was at the Container Park, a place I thought was only for 21+. Turns out, 21+ is only at night from 9PM to close!  First things first, PARKING. It's downtown so you can get "free" parking at places like Main Street Station if you plan on spending some money at their casino and validate your parking. For me, I don't have a problem dropping some change in the machine right next to where I'm going. DON'T FORGET to leave the ticket in your window, and how long you paid for! They are QUICK AF to give tickets down here. Prices range from $1-$3 in the lots. Ky and I - Babywearing with our CuddleBug wrap I am just in love with this place. They have super comfy seating where there is a turf area for kids to play,

My Netflix Obsession: Raising Dion

My latest Netflix obsession lands right on Raising Dion. This Netflix Original is about a Widowed single mother, played by Alisha Wainwright (that I recognize from Shadow Hunters), who is doing her best to raise a son with superhuman abilities that seem to keep growing. While we are at NO shortage of superhero movies and shows right now, this one breaks the average mold by being the story of a child of color. Without giving you too many spoilers, this is why you should start binging right now. First, second and third of all MICHAEL B. JORDAN. Thank you, and goodnight folks. That smile moves mountains and can get me to watch anything! BUT, I got caught up and sucked in before I even realized he was in this so it was a delightful bonus. Unfortunately, we learn early on in the movie that Michael's character, Mark, was killed in a storm saving someone giving us the hero factor right out of the gate. The characters of this show are SO easily loveable. Dion, played by Ja'Siah
